Rugby vs Dale

The Dale fixture is always a tough one and this year proved no different. St Andrew’s College, however, proved to be too strong for their opposition from King William’s Town beating them in nine out of 11 fixtures. It was a good day for the home side.

The 1st XV game got off to a flying start with St Andrew’s College up 15 – 3 early in the game with tries from Grant Dixie and Michael Müller. Dale College fought back hard, and took the lead into half time 15 – 18. The St Andrew’s College boys started well again and scored three lovely tries, two from Dixie and one from the kicker on the day Ross Ferguson. A further try from Max Kieser took the home sides score to 39. Dale can never be written off, and fought back to the last second. The final score was 39 – 37. The game will be remembered for the excellent tries, running rugby and the way momentum kept shifting.

It was a fitting finish for some of the Grade 12 boys who played their last game on Lower Field on Saturday.
