Today St Andrew’s College boys were privileged to listen Mr Nick Mallett, South African rugby union player, former Springbok Coach and former head coach of the Italian national rugby team amongst his other endeavours.
Mallett, an Old Andrean (Armstrong 1973 ) returned for a visit to his old school today and addressed the pupils at their weekly assembly. He emphasized the fact that every person matters and that being a team player on and off the sports field is the key to success. He went on to elaborate that a team is bigger than one person, it is about the greater good of everyone on that team. He used stories from his coaching career as examples.
After assembly, Mr Mallett had lunch in the dining hall with the boys who were eager to meet and greet this sporting legend.
This afternoon, the first team hockey and rugby teams were involved in a Question and Answer session where they were able to speak to him about various topics including motivation, wins and losses and who he thinks will be on the World Cup Rugby team
