The St Andrew’s College and DSG Rowing Clubs enjoyed a great deal of success at the South African Schools Rowing Champs held on the Roodeplaat Dam this past weekend. This success was the result of months of dedication and hard work, including spending time at the Champs venue fine-tuning their training over the past week.
The 1st VIII finished in a very creditable 3rd place in a photofinish to earn a bronze medal, whilst the 2nd VII also picked up the bronze in a very close finish to their event. The U16 VIII reigned supreme and secured the gold medal after dominating their age-group this year. They have been invited to go on the SA U16 Development Tour to England later this year. The U16’s also picked up the bronze medal in the IV’s event. There were a number of close 4th place finishes and as a Club they did exceptionally well to finish 3rd overall.
