Grade 10 pupil from St Andrew's College chosen for Investec International Rugby Academy
Sintu Manjezi, rugby player and Grade 10 pupil at St Andrew's College, has been selected to be sponsored by the Compass Group SA to participate in the Investec International Rugby Academy training in December 2011.
The Compass Group Southern Africa is a market leader in providing food as well as selected support services and employs thousands of people in over 450 sites; ranging from mining villages, hospitals, staff restaurants, secondary and tertiary educational institutions, to travel concessions. Mr Edward Morton, General Manager Education Sector, visited the College on 16 November to make the announcement on behalf of the Compass Group SA.
Compass sponsors eight scholarships in total and a committee consisting of many influential rugby personalities were involved in the process of selecting four pupils from various schools in the country to participate in the Investec International Rugby Academy. The world's greatest rugby talents share their knowledge of the game with a hands-on approach. They train rugby players to stay in touch with the latest, techniques and playing styles, as well as developing the mental fitness required to enable them to take their talent to the next level. Harnessing the credibility, formula and success of the International Rugby Academy New Zealand, the Investec International Rugby Academy South Africa, headed by Dick Muir, capitalises on the untapped demand for high-performance rugby tuition in South Africa. The academy offers a range of courses which extend from coaching-the-coaches courses to elite high-performance and position-specific training for international rugby, through to development courses for school talent giving coaches the benefit of working with some of the world's best up-and-coming talent, while young players are exposed to coaches which they would not otherwise have had access to.
St Andrew's College congratulates Sintu on his selection to participate in the Investec International Rugby Academy.
