On the 13th of July the students had a wonderful opportunity, through the President's Award Program, to meet with President Jacob Zuma. They were divided into groups and were asked to discuss and present challenges that they felt the youth faced. The brainstorming session was used to structure a question that was to be asked of the President. DSG pupils Kuku Karekaho and Nomtha Ngumbela were chosen from their groups to present their groups question directly to the President. Alexander Minney addressed the President in an impressive speech regarding the value and importance of Community Service in his life and the life of the youth in general. President Zuma responded to the questions in a personable and wise way which impressed the young people immeasurably.
