14 Independent School’s from all over the country participated in an U15 rugby festival which was successfully hosted by St Andrew’s College.
After the first day of scheduled fixtures, teams were then matched according to their strengths. Kearsney, St Davids, Helpmekaar, Kingswood and St Andrew’s College all had big wins.
The second day of fixtures saw some interesting match ups with hosts St Andrew’s College taking on Kearsney, St Davids against Helpmekaar and locals Kingswood against Michaelhouse. St Andrew’s, Helpmekaar and Michaelhouse were the victors.
The last day saw one of the most anticipated match ups of the festival Helpmekaar against Kearsney. Helpmekaar proved by winning this match 27-8 that they could justifiably claim to be the best side at the festival. The only other team that went unbeaten during the festival was St Andrew’s College who beat all three KZN opponents: Hilton, Kearsney and Michaelhouse.
All games were played in true festival spirit. The free day allowed many of the teams to explore a bit of the Eastern Cape coastline. Boys had a relaxing day at nearby beaches where they enjoyed the much welcomed sunshine. Hilton College will be hosting the festival next year.
