What a glorious day it was for this challenging event. It was wonderful to see the determination with which the swimmers tackled the distance and all the enthusiastic support from parents and friends of the school. A venture like this can only ever be successful with the help of many people. Thank you to all the staff and boys who were there to help in such a variety of ways. A special word of thanks must go to Mr Pete Andrews who arrived early to set up the course and who was there after the event to dismantle everything too. Thank you too to Mr Murray for his generosity in supplying us with boats to accompany the swimmers and for his wonderful hospitality after the mile.
The results were as follows. The junior half mile was won by Matthew Danckwerts (Upper) in a time of 14 minutes and 22 seconds. He was followed by Dyllan Ramsay (Graham) and Mat Arnot (Armstrong). The senior mile caused much excitement in that College was nearly beaten by a girl!
