Careers Day 2010
Date : 29th April 2010

The DSG Careers Day was held on Wednesday 21 April. A record 15 schools from all areas in Grahamstown sent their Grade 11 and 12 learners to participate.

35 presenters from Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown gave presentations throughout the afternoon.
All the new institutions and companies at the 2010 Careers Day were presenting opportunities for Gap Year opportunities.
Every faculty from Rhodes University as well as the Rhodes Careers Department and the Rhodes Admin Department were on hand during the course of the afternoon to offer advice to learners and to give the youth a better understanding of the faculties offered by South African Universities.

We are always proud to be able to draw on the professional services of Senior Advocate Nickie Turner and Dr Barbara Bull who spoke on Law and Medicine respectively. Likewise, MBB Consulting Engineers share their expert knowledge with learners each year.

International Education Link, International Tertiary Education and Global Education gave presentations and were able to offer advice and assistance on studying abroad.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the sponsors of the Careers Day, felt strongly that this year’s Careers Day saw learners attend with a more mature focus on their careers and futures and arriving at presentations better prepared and ready with worthwhile questions. It is thanks to the generosity of PwC that we are able to transport all disadvantaged schools to our Careers Day.

CONGRATULATIONS to Richard Wilson on winning the Grand Prize in the National draw through International Education Link.
Richard’s prize: 4 week Summer School at Stirling University in Scotland. Richard’s prize includes his tuition, accommodation and return airfare and has been jointly sponsored by Stirling University, Barclays Wealth and International Education Link.
