NEC ASPERA TERRENT . EMBRACING NEW FRONTIERS
St Andrew's College enjoy a good game of rugby against Cambridge High School
Date : 18th May 2009

St Andrew’s College hosted Cambridge High School from East London on a windy afternoon in Grahamstown on Saturday. Cambridge had come off a good run of victories and were always going to put pressure on St Andrew’s playing without a number of leading players who were attending final EP trials. Playing with the wind in the first half, St Andrew’s tried to play a very enterprising brand of rugby with lots of possession. This approach was hampered somewhat by some crucial handling errors and by pressure from Cambridge at the breakdown. The score at halftime was still very close and this stayed that way until near the end of the game when some good play by St Andrew’s, keeping the ball in hand, saw them take the game away from Cambridge after Cambridge had got to 15-18. Good support play between the St Andrew’s forwards and backs saw a number of effective attacking moves and it was a result of this that saw all 5 tries being scored by the backline.

Final score: St Andrew’s College 30 Cambridge High School 18
Tries: Ross Campbell, Jono de Vrye, Nick Mills, Grant Macdonald, Ryan Dugmore
CONVERSION: Dale Austin
PENALTY: Dale Austin
