The River Mile

The Annual River Mile was held down in the Kowie River in Port Alfred in perfect weather conditions this past Sunday. The Annual River Mile was held down in the Kowie River in Port Alfred in perfect weather conditions this past Sunday. and to see the good support from both parents and staff.
The Junior event was a closely contested affair with James Myburgh coming in just 3 seconds ahead of Matthew Danckwerts to clinch 1st place. He was followed by Campbell Gregory, Dylan Ramsay and M-J Rosslee. The Junior team event was won by Armstrong House with all six swimmers amongst the top 17 finishers. Second was Graham House, followed by Upper, Espin, Merriman and Mullins.
The Senior event saw Simon Pheasant leading from start to finish, winning by just under a minute in 24 min and 6 secs. There was a close tussle for 2nd spot with Nick Eastwood eventually coming inahead of  Angus and Lachlan Macdonald, with James Baker in 5th place, a little further back. The Senior team event was also won by Armstrong House with another strong showing. They were followed by Graham, Upper, Merriman, Mullins and Espin. Our thanks go to all the staff for their assistance on the day, to the boys for their enthusiastic participation and to Mr Boshoff for arranging a successful staff cycle ride from Grahamstown to Port Alfred.
