Live interview with Hamilton Wende
Hamilton Wende, a freelance writer and television producer was the special guest interviewed at the DB Wylde Leadership Indaba. Hamilton (Tony) was interview by Abby Robertson from DSG and Ross Thompson from College. These two pupils posed varied and interesting questions to Mr Wende. They asked about how his long and interesting career started. They spoke about the books that he has published. He spoke specifically about The Quagga’s Secret which was based on a dream that he had.
Mr Wende has covered fifteen different wars in Africa, Asia and the Middle East and he says that he is not a ‘war junkie’ or ‘adrenaline junkie’. He believes that he abides by his ethics and brings out the story on a humanitarian level. He is a regular contributor to From Our Own Correspondent on Radio 4 on the BBC and has also contributed to the BBC World Service programme Letter. Many of his articles have been published in international and South African newspapers and magazines, including National Geographic Traveler, The Chicago Tribune, GQ, Maclean’s Magazine, Travel Africa, The Sunday Times, Business Day, to mention a few.
In television Hamilton Wende has worked for a number of international networks including the BBC, NBC, ABC (Australia), SBS (Australia), NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation, Al Jazeera English and a number of others. He has also appeared on a number of radio and television programmes including MSNBC, SABC TV, AM Live and on Radio 702.
