St Andrew’s College pupil invited as a guest of the British Council

Andrew de Blocq, a St Andrew’s College pupil, have been selected to represent South Africa as a guest of the British Council, along with another pupil from Limpopo Province, in Edinburgh at a global initiative know as International Climate Champions for a selection of young from the G8 countries plus Brazil, Mexico, China, India and South Africa (known as the G8+5) and Sri Lanka. Two International Climate Champions have been selected from each country, aged 16 – 21, to attend a workshop in Edinburg from 23 – 27 February 2009.

The overall aim of the workshop is to inform, inspire and encourage action in the field of climate change but specifically to equip participants with the skills required to deliver successful projects and communicate their message. The Edinburgh Workshop begins on Sunday evening 22 February, and ends on Friday 27 February 2009.

As part of his participation in the national schools’s debating finals in 2008 and in the British Council International Climate Champions programme in 2009, Andrew de Blocq has been selected to participate in the workshop.
