The 2009 Matric results were outstanding and our congratulations go to the boys and girls of St Andrew’s and DSG. There were some superb results with the following individuals excelling:

Justin Swart of St Andrew’s College was selected for the IEB’s Outstanding Achievement list for being ranked within the top 5% of learners in 6 subjects.
Kathryn Allan was selected for the IEB’s Commendable Achievement list for being ranked within the top 5% of learners in 5 subjects.
Katharine Patterson achieved 8 subject distinctions; Kathryn Allen achieved 7; Catherine Bennet, Timothy Abel and Justin Swart achieved 6; Kate Trollip, Ruth Nelson, Andrew de Blocq, Jaco Delport, Robert Hart and Thomas Niven each attained 5 subject distinctions.
Both schools gained 100% pass rate and 95% of the candidates gained matric with entry to degree studies; the IEB average is 79.47%.
The DSG had 58 candidates writing matric with 7 (12%) pupils passing with Distinction and 39 (67%) passing with Merit. The girls attained 105 subject distinctions.
“The 2009 Matrics can be very proud of this achievement. Their collective contribution to the DSG over the years has been immeasurable and they have finished solidly with these excellent results. I congratulate them and their teachers. We wish all our Matrics much success and happiness in their future endeavours,” said Shelley Frayne, Headmistress of DSG.
90 candidates from St Andrew’s College wrote matric, 15 (17%) pupils passing with Distinction and 37 (41%) passing with Merit. The boys attained 128 subject distinctions.
Paul Edey, Headmaster of St Andrew’s College in Grahamstown said, “St Andrew’s is an extremely busy boarding school and many of the boys whom have achieved top matric results have been fully committed in other aspects of the school. We salute them on their achievements and will follow their passage through university and beyond with interest. Congratulations to the boys and to their teachers!”
