As I am sure you are all aware, it was announced in October last year that the current headmaster, David Wylde, would be retiring at the end of 2008. Since then College Council has been through a lengthy and thorough process to find his successor. We were spoilt for choice.
It gives me great pleasure to announce that Paul Edey has accepted our offer to him to take over from David at the beginning of 2009. Like David, Paul is also an Old Andrean, having left College in 1974. He comes to us with vast teaching and educational leadership experience having been the Deputy Head at King Edward VII School and Executive Headmaster at St David’s Marist Inanda. He is currently Director of Executive Education at the University of Pretoria’s Gordon Institute of Business Science.
We are delighted that Paul's desire to return to teaching and specifically, headmastership, co-incided with the headmaster position at College becoming vacant and have every confidence that he will be able to quickly pick up on the excellent job that David has done and continues to do.
I am sure you will join me and the rest of the council in wishing Paul and his wife Sue a warm welcome to St. Andrew's and am confident that he will receive the full support of the entire Andrean community as was the case with David.
Kind regards
Davey Herold
Chairman of the St Andrew’s College Council
