St. Andrew's School FNB Squash Festival in Bloemfontein 6-8 February 2009:
This past weekend saw the St. Andrew's College 1st squash team taking part in the annual St. Andrew's School FNB Squash Festival. The team consisted of Stefan Euijen, Craig McCune (Captain), Dane van der Westhuyzen, Brian Skosana (Vice-Captain), Dean Frielinghaus and James Dunbar.
The team started their campaign in less than ideal conditions, having to step onto the court soon after they arrived. The high altitude meant more difficulties as all the players battled to find good length in their first game. Playing against a strong KES team, College went down with a fight 1-5 in matches.
Saturday morning saw the team up against a resilient St. Albans side. With a game's experience under the belt, the guys had no problems and managed to win the match 5 - 1. Saturday afternoon saw us come up against a strong St. John's side. The squash was brilliant and the team could not be faltered on their efforts. It went down to the wire, but unfortunately some errors at crucial times meant we lost the fixture 12-13 in games after drawing 3-3 in matches.
Saturday evening was one of the highlights of the tour and the team enjoyed a well organised formal dinner.
On Sunday morning the stiffness started setting in, but the boys had to psych themselves up to play a tough St. Andrew's School 'B' side. With news that they had narrowly beaten the St. John's team the previous day, the boys were more determined than ever to show their worth, and that they did; taking it 4-2 in matches.
Congratulations must go to all the boys for having impeccable behaviour throughout the Festival, both on the court and off the court. Special congratulations must go to Brian Skosana who was able to win all four of this matches, and thanks to Alistair Ferreira, Steve Andrew and Charles (our driver) who accompanied the team on this enjoyable tour. This event is certainly an annual highlight on our squash calendar and was, once again, a good warm-up for the busy season ahead.

The Inter-House Squash matches were played on Sunday 11 October and Mr Alcock would like to thank the players for the wonderful spirit that the matches were played in and for the tremendous support shown, particularly at the Seniors Final match!
The final results were as follows:
In the Junior competition, Graham House was victorious with Upper being the runners-up.
