Vision and Mission

St Andrew’s College

• Is a 450-strong boys’ boarding school, founded in 1855.
• Is a community of committed staff and pupils, six boarding houses (420 beds) and excellent facilities.
• Participates in a unique family of integrated learning with the Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s Preparatory School.
• Is located in Grahamstown, an Eastern Cape city with a national and international reputation as a centre of education, religion and culture.
• Enrols the main core of our boys from the Eastern Cape (including dayboys in Grahamstown), together with significant numbers from Gauteng, the southern and western Cape, and from southern, central and east African countries and beyond. It is therefore a local, national and international school.

Our Mission Objectives

To embrace new frontiers as the boarding school of choice in Africa through
1. Renewing the Founder’s vision of a church school which nurtures balanced personal and spiritual growth.
2. Striving for excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
3. Creating a strong sense of belonging, friendship and House ethos in a quality boarding environment.
4. Promoting a welcoming school for staff, boys and parents through effective communication and the creation of welcoming spaces.
5. Developing the potential and ensuring the enjoyment of each Andrean in sport, the Arts, culture and outdoor education, and promoting excellence in all of these.
6. Embracing South Africa’s future by developing a vigorous programme of local community engagement and service to others.
7. Ensuring optimal professional growth and skills development of our staff.
8. Maintaining sound, efficient and effective systems to support the governance, administration and management of the school as a community of pupils, staff and parents.
