James De Beer has learned a new skill, participated in sport, completed an adventurous journey, performed far in excess of the required 78 hours of service (much of it at a soup kitchen during the holidays), and lived and worked outside of his normal community for a week. He has been awarded the Gold Standard of the President’s Award
President's Award Assembly Notice 25/1/12:
The President's Award began the year with its first Friday afternoon activities being well supported, particularly by senior boys. The new long term project of planting a wind-break of indigenous trees at the new independent Anglican school on the Highlands road was begun with two hours of hard work. Nine boys and three staff members dug holes in what very rocky ground, and prepared tree stakes. Brother Timothy Jolley, Prior of the monastery, expressed his gratitude and excitement at the growth of the relationship between the oldest and newest Anglican schools in Grahamstown.
