Paul Tosio - study skills

Paul Tosio is an established specialist in the field of study skills, and a Psychology graduate from both Rhodes University and the University of Oxford. He is the Director of The Juno Study Course and has trained Academic Skills to thousands of people from over one hundred institutions worldwide over the past ten years. These have including many students from Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, Stanford, Rhodes, UCT, and numerous High Schools. Paul has been on radio shows such as the BBC, 702 and SAFM - and is a regular contributor on Cape Talk.

Paul recently (April 2010) gave talks to our Grade 10, 11 and 12s concerning study skills during LO classes - and a talk that 'Study must be Active' -which are things that both Speed Reading and Memory Techniques (his two main areas of focus) advocate. He gave a Speed Reading demonstration for the students, and explained how memory functions (i.e. visually, by us essentially 'imagining' the concepts in the work) with the aim of students being better able to recall their work.

Many students from St Andrew's and DSG then attended his full scale course (see www.junostudycourse.com) during which he teaches these things in greater depth, including other skills like motivation, staying calm and focused, exam strategy, essay writing etc.

Paul says "I found your students to be of an exceptionally high standard. Engaged, respectful and intelligent. It was a true pleasure working with them, both in the LO classes, and also in my full scale teaching (for those who attended)."
