Dear Parents
We look forward to welcoming you all to Balloon Week and enjoying this time together. It is a jam packed week, so bring your vitamins, flat shoes and something warm!
Please note that there are road works in progress around the College Admin building and thus parking and traffic congestion is to be expected. Please give yourselves plenty of time getting to the different functions.
This is a very special week for our Matric parents' where the Headmaster's final address to the Grade 12s in Assembly last week was quite moving and we would like to share it with all our parents as it is pertinent to us all.
Please visit us in the Marketing Department should you require any assistance during your stay with us over the next few days.
We look forward to seeing you.

THE HEADMASTER'S ADDRESS - FINAL MATRIC ASSEMBLY TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2009:
Ecclesiastes 1:9 To Everything There is a Season
This is the final assembly for the Matric Class of 2009. It is perhaps appropriate that we are holding it in the Chapel. This is the centre of the school. Take a moment to look around you at the plaques - feel the history and the heritage of this school.
The passage just read says there is a season for everything and it goes on to list the major emotions and dreams of human life:
- birth and dying
- planting and uprooting
- killing and healing
- knocking down and building up
- tears and laughter
- hating and loving
- war and peace.
Change we know must come, but what frightens us is HOW change will come, and the unknown consequences of change. Nothing confuses and bewilders more than the unknown - because with change comes new ideas, new values, new principles, new standards.
The speed of change is terrifying and the pace of change is accelerating all the time. But isn't this the whole challenge of life - facing the unknown with courage, determination and vision. We can fight change, we can run away from change, or we can accept the challenges of change.
To accept the challenges of change, our greatest strength is something that does not change - our faith. St Andrew's has hopefully given you a value system and planted the seed of faith.
It has been a huge privilege for me to work with this Grade 12 group. A group of young men who are open, confident and articulate. Young men who are not afraid of difficulties. The school owes the class of 2009 a debt of thanks. You have achieved so much and given the school a great deal in the classroom, on the sports field and culturally. There have been some thrilling moments and some humbling ones.
I would like to thank the School Prefects and House Prefects. The school has been superbly led by Justus Luttig - a young man who is determined and loyal. A young man with values and faith. Justus has been superbly complemented by Ross Thompson who is articulate, thoughtful and creative.
To the Grade 12 group - you are about to enter a time of stress and anxiety. You need to prepare yourself and not be distracted by foolish and silly things. You must face the world with confidence and be true to yourselves. Be authentic and have the courage to be yourself.
Answer the good intent of Bishop John Armstrong and become profitable members of Church and State.
Thank you all.
