The Annual Newboy Walk took place on Sunday 21 January from Bushmans River Mouth to Boknes. With a near gale-force easterly wind blowing on Sunday it was decided to reverse the usual walk from Boknes to Bushmans to make the conditions more tolerable. Some 90 Grade 8 boys, plus their dorm prefects and tutors and matrons from each house, bussed down to Bushmans after chapel and were off-loaded at an already windy Bushmans River Mouth. After a short briefing they were on their way. This is a spectacular piece of pristine coastline and the spring low conditions made walking easier, despite the strong wind whipping up sand from behind. All the boys managed to get there unaided and they were in high spirits when they were dropped back at Bushmans for a lunch of boerie rolls and watermelon and a swim in the river.
Well done to all the boys and thanks to the 20 odd staff members that accompanied them.
