I joined St Andrews College in 2005 as a Design and Technology teacher which I have taught at my two previous schools, St Benedict’s College and St Peter’s College. On the sports field I enjoy coaching hockey and cricket and being on the field with the boys gives me another perspective that helps me to understand them better. I studied at the Johannesburg College of education where I received my higher diploma in secondary education and furthered my studies at UNISA to complete by BA majoring in Education and History.
Boys should be exposed to many different aspects of school life for example; cultural, sport, and spiritual. At the end of their school careers they should ultimately be molded into self motivated and self disciplined individuals. It is this philosophy that I use as my motivation to try and inspire boys to be involved in the many activities that they are afforded here at College. I believe that a balanced and well rounded individual is the primary goal of any good school.
I am ably assisted in Merriman House by my wife who takes a personal interest in the well being of the boys in our care. A regular phenomenon on Sunday evening is our hot chocolate and cake evenings where boys have an opportunity to be spoilt by their ‘house mom.’ Our aim is to make Merriman House a happy and enjoyable home away from home.
My interests and hobbies include spending time with my three children, James, Julie-Ann and Bryan. I enjoying boating and skiing on the bushman’s river as well as looking after my tropical fish.
