Luc Hoefnagels joined St. Andrew's College in 2008 as HoD: Geography and came with a wealth of experience, having taught previously at Wynberg Boys' High School for nine years and at Bishops for eight.
He was schooled at St. Joseph's College (Marist) in Cape Town and attained his B.A. (Phys. Ed.) degree at Stellenbosch University and his Higher Diploma in Education at UCT.
He is married to Judy, an Eastern Cape girl, who also teaches Mathematics at College. They have two children, Nikki and Jacques, who are both very happy at DSG and Prep respectively. Besides teaching, Luc served for a number of years as the Cape Town Geography Study Group's co-chairman and as vice-chairman at Cape Town Cricket Club. He also completed a Sports Management course a number of years ago.
Luc thoroughly enjoys his association with all sport. He coached both the Wynberg and Bishops 1st XI cricket sides in his time there and is a qualified Level III coach. He loves walking, cooking and wine tasting, reading and travelling. He has taken up golf, since his arrival in Grahamstown and is working hard at lowering his handicap. His philosophy of a health body and a health mind is something he strongly believes in and subscribes to and as housemaster will be encouraging the young men of Graham, to be fully involved and to grab all the opportunities that College has to offer.
