I joined the staff of St Andrew's College as Director of Sport in September 2005. I had been on the staff of Rhodes University, as the Head of their Sports Administration, for the previous 15 years. I matriculated from Kingswood College in 1977 and come from a family of teachers, being the second youngest of a family of six children. I am 45 years of age, married with two boys. My wife Lin, an old girl of the DSG, had until August last year, run the Children's National Arts Festival from St Andrew's Prep which she had done for the previous 15 years. She is now on the staff of Rhodes University where she is the Development Manager in the Communications and Development Division. She thoroughly enjoys her position which she finds both stimulating and rewarding. Lin is the daughter of staunch College old boy, Des White and her Mom was a former Secretary of College for many years. Both Lin's brothers, Ant and Pete went right the way through Prep and College.
Both our sons, Steve and Kevin have been right through the St Andrew's system since pre-primary. Steve is just finished his BCom degree at Rhodes University, and will do Information Systems Honours in 2009. He spent 2004 as a Gap student in the UK, where he served as a Student Tutor at a prep school called Brambletye in East Grinstead. He will be serving as the Senior Student Tutor at St Andrew's College in 2009. Kevin is currently going into his second year of a BCom at Rhodes University. He also did a gap year in 2007, at Papplewick Prep School in Ascot in the UK.
As a family we spend most of our holidays down at our cottage at Bushman's River where we are able to pursue our love for the outdoors. We spend much time on the beach or the river, fishing, skiing, canoeing, windsurfing, bird watching or just bonding with nature.
I have an obvious interest in sport and recreation and have played a wide range of sport, at various levels, over the years. I still participate in squash, tennis, hockey and golf, whenever possible, whilst grabbing any opportunity to fish, canoe, windsurf, ski or waveski, when down at the coast.
Lin and I are committed to making Mullins House a home away from home for all the Mullins boys. I can assure you that we will do all that we can to ensure that Mullins provides an environment for all that is happy, productive, caring and successful.
